After leaving the Senator, Doug opened a law office in Greenville, South Carolina and became involved in the community.
Chief Operating Officer, Doug Dent was born in Washington, D.C. and came to South Carolina to attend the University of South Carolina. After graduating, he went to
work on the campaign of U. S. Senator Ernest F. Hollings and after the Senator’s victory, went to Washington with him serving as a Legislative Assistant. Returning to South Carolina, he went to USC School of Law and obtained his Juris Doctorate, working for Sen. Hollings in his Columbia and Upstate offices. He later became the Senator’s Statewide Campaign manager and continued to assist the Senator politically throughout his long and successful career in the U. S. Senate.
Politically, he served as Chairman of the Greenville City Democratic Party and the Greenville County Democratic Action Committee. He also led the upstate efforts of Governor Dick Riley and Lt. Gov. Mike Daniel, during their gubernatorial races and Sen. John Edwards' 2004 Presidential campaign. He has successfully managed several local political campaigns, most recently assisting Anderson Mayor Terrence Roberts' election.

In 2004, he was tapped to serve as co-chair of the SC Democratic Party Presidential Debate in Greenville. This led to his service as the co-chair of the First in the South 2007 SC Democratic Presidential Debate in Orangeburg, SC at SC State University and serving as a consultant to the Democratic National Party Debate held at the Citadel in June, 2007.
As part of his law practice Doug has represented many government agencies and has served as a lobbyist for several businesses and
associations. He has appeared before numerous regulatory boards in South Carolina as well as State and Federal Courts. He
Doug has held leadership positions with numerous community and civic groups including, the Urban League, Sertoma Club, Red Cross, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and was
served as Chairman of the Board of the South Carolina School For the Deaf and Blind where a service award was named in his honor and was a member of the Governor’s Children’s Cabinet.
